About Beth

Beth Goncher was raised in Aurora, Illinois. The daughter of a doctor and a nurse, she grew up working in her father’s office along-side her entire family to help ensure people could receive community care. The pay wasn’t the best, but the experience Beth gained in running a family business provided valuable life lessons.

After graduating from Dominican University with a BA in English Literature and Sociology, Beth moved to Silicon Valley, working in Human Resources. Eventually, she felt the call to return home, and worked as a purchasing agent for a distributor of hydraulic and pneumatic seals and parts.

Beth moved on to work in the Human Resources department of Fox Valley Park District. A chance meeting while volunteering for a children’s charity event led Beth to work for State Representative Tim Schmitz, spending nearly 14 years as Rep. Schmitz’ District Director and Campaign Manager.

During her time on Rep. Schmitz’ staff, Beth counseled others, including State Representative Kay Hatcher. Upon Rep. Hatcher’s retirement, Beth determined to run for the 50th District, now represented by Keith Wheeler, who Beth considers a friend.

In 2015, Beth joined the staff of Congressman Randy Hultgren (IL-14), and by 2016, was promoted to District Director, spearheading Mr. Hultgren’s initiatives in the seven counties comprising Illinois’ 14th Congressional District. Beth provided strategic consulting on Congressman Hultgren’s political programs during his 2016 re-election, leading her to assume the role of Campaign Manager for Mr. Hultgren’s 2018 campaign.

While serving as Congressman Hultgren’s liaison to federal, district and local agencies, Beth was able to build Women in Manufacturing and Women in Leadership coalitions and championed the creation of district STEM Scholars and STEM Mentorship programs. Internationally, Beth represented Illinois during a congressional staff delegation sent to China in partnership with the National Committee on US China Relations; and as a participant in a US Israeli Parliamentary Visit to Israel.

Given Beth’s extensive background in human resources, STEM initiatives, and youth mentoring, it is unsurprising that she continues to promote workforce development programs designed to identify and train qualified employees for the millions of critical skilled jobs that sit vacant every day for lack of talent.

After a stint in Washington, DC serving the American Psychological Association as Special Assistant to the CAO, Beth returned to Illinois to begin a business management consultancy, where she assists local businesses with developing operations plans to build long-term growth.

Beth calls Aurora’s University Neighbors community home, where, as a single mother, she raised her 21-year-old son, Austin, a self-taught musician and student. Beth’s compassion for others and deep area ties led her to serve on the boards of three area non-profits focused on working to improve people’s quality of life in the community. An enthusiastic supporter of the performing arts, Beth has appeared on stage in many regional productions.

Beth Goncher Running for Illinois Senate Respected Community Leader Seeks Republican Nomination in March 2020 Primary

Beth Goncher For Circuit Judge

Aurora, Illinois – Respected community leader and Aurora native, Beth Goncher, today officially announced her candidacy for Illinois Senate. Seeking to serve Illinois’ 25th Legislative District, Beth is running for the Republican nomination in the March 17, 2020 primary election.

Upon filing, Ms. Goncher thanked the volunteers who circulated petitions, then made a call to keep the momentum up, stating:

“I have had the honor of living and working in our community over the years. I understand my neighbors concerns and share their extreme distrust of government as a whole. I am disgusted by the deep-seated corruption at all levels of government. I believe this plays a huge role in many of the problems plaguing Illinois and I aim to be a part of the solution.

My extensive professional experience and deep roots in this district have prepared me to handle the challenges our great State must confront, but I cannot do it alone. I need the help of concerned citizens who believe, as I do, that Illinois’ brightest days are ahead. I’m not running to be someone, to fill a seat, collect a check. I’m running to do something, for real people, with real problems. Together, we can get the job done.”

Beth currently consults for local businesses with developing operations plans to build long-term growth where she applies decades of experience that began in her youth, when, as the daughter of a doctor and a nurse, Beth worked in her father’s office along-side her entire family to help ensure people could receive community care.

Money was tight, but the experience Beth gained in running a family business provided valuable life lessons of hard work in service to a cause. These important values helped Beth work her way through Dominican University, where she received her Bachelors in English Literature and Sociology.

After a brief stint in Silicon Valley as a Human Resources professional, Beth felt the pull of home, and joined the staff of a local Park District. This move proved fortuitous when, while volunteering for a children’s charity event, Beth met State Representative Tim Schmitz who hired her to serve as his district director and campaign manager for nearly 14 years.

It was during this time, where Beth, committed to using the tools of government to assist the communities she served, found public service to be her true calling. Her determination led her to join the staff of Congressman Randy Hultgren, where, as District Director and top political aide, Beth spearheaded Mr. Hultgren’s initiatives in the seven counties comprising Illinois’ 14th Congressional District.

Just prior to beginning her consultancy, Beth served the American Psychological Association as Special Assistant to the CAO, where her workforce interest intersected with our National Opioid Epidemic, which could be solved in part, by recruiting more people into the mental health profession pipeline.

Given Beth’s extensive background in human resources, STEM initiatives, and youth mentoring, it is unsurprising that she continues to promote workforce development programs designed to identify and train qualified employees for the millions of critical skilled jobs that sit vacant every day.

Beth calls the Aurora University neighborhood home, where, as a single mother, she raised her 21-year-old son, Austin, a self-taught musician and student. Beth’s compassion for others and deep area ties led her to serve on the boards of three area non-profits focused on working to improve people’s quality of life in the community. An enthusiastic supporter of the performing arts, Beth has appeared on stage in many regional productions.
